Dental Emergency FAQs
If your question is not here, call us on +91 98402 03173 and we will answer it.
What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe or worsening pain, facial swelling, a knocked-out or badly broken tooth, and bleeding that will not stop after an injury. If you are unsure, call and ask.
My child has knocked out a tooth. What do I do?
If it is a permanent tooth, pick it up by the crown — never the root — and if it is dirty rinse it briefly in milk. Try to place it gently back in the socket and hold it there. If you cannot, keep it in a cup of milk and come to us immediately; time matters a great deal. Do not try to reimplant a baby tooth.
There is swelling on the face. Is that urgent?
Yes. Facial swelling needs same-day attention, particularly with a fever. If breathing or swallowing is affected at all, treat it as a medical emergency and go to a hospital immediately rather than waiting for a dental appointment.
Can it wait until the morning?
Pain that is manageable often can. Swelling, a knocked-out permanent tooth or an injury involving bleeding should not wait. Call us and we will advise.
How do I manage the pain until I get there?
Over-the-counter pain relief suitable for you or your child’s age can help, taken as directed on the packet. Do not place aspirin directly against the gum — it burns the tissue. A cold compress on the outside of the cheek can ease swelling.
Do you see emergencies without an appointment?
Please call before coming in so we can prepare and give you a time. That way you are not waiting with a problem we could have dealt with sooner.
